Cardio versus Strength Training

Q. Which type of exercise is better for me

A. Both aerobics, or cardiovascular exercise, and strength training with weights or resistance are excellent forms of exercise, and you should include both in your fitness regimen. However, strength training tends to burn more calories and help you lose weight faster. That’s because muscle speeds up your metabolism, which in turn burns fat. So the more muscle you have, the more calories you burn, even when you’re sitting still or sleeping.

If you do a lot of cardio but don’t include strength training in your workouts, you can certainly still lose weight, but you do so at the peril of losing muscle along with fat. And when you lose muscle, you actually slow down your metabolism.
